Why would I need Doggy Playcare (Daycare)? When pets are left alone for long periods of time, they can exhibit unwanted behaviors such as chewing, hyper-activity, barking, digging, soiling or howling. At Mud Puppies your dog has the opportunity to be around other dogs and people. We provide supervised play groups, naptime and several walks throughout the day. Your dog will get a lot of socialization and exercise. Many people drop their dogs off on their way to work and pick them up after work, but Mud Puppies Playcare is also great if you just have a busy day running errands, think your dog could use more socialization, or if you just think your dog could use a little fun and exercise. |
What vaccines does my pet need to stay at Mud Puppies? We require that all dogs have proof of current vaccinations. Rabies (every 3 years), DHLPP(annually), and Bordatella (every 6 months). If your dog is due, the Bordatella vaccination must have been administered at least two weeks prior to attendance at Mud Puppies. Pets must also be on widely accepted flea prevention and heartworm prevention programs. If fleas or ticks are found on your pet upon his/her arrival or during his/her stay at Mud Puppies, he/she will be given a flea bath at owner’s expense. The fee for a flea bath in such a case is $30. |
Do you offer package pricing for playcare? For Mud Puppies Playcare service,we offer several pre-paid packages based on the number of visits purchased. We also offer playcare and boarding discounts for a second pet in the same bunk. If your pet is a little smelly and ready for a bath, you have the option of getting your pet washed at Mud Puppies for an additional discounted fee if they are staying at Mud Puppies for playcare or boarding. |
Can my dog get a bath while at playcare or boarding? Yes! Before your pet goes home, we can give your pet a “Squeaky-Clean Send-Off” that includes a brush, bath, and fluff dry for an additional $20. |
What if my dog gets injured or becomes sick? In the event your pet should need medical attention while in our care, he/she will be taken to Hwy 620 Animal Hospital across the street from our facility. Outside of regular business hours, your pet may be taken to the Emergency Animal Hospital at 12034 Research Blvd. Every effort will be made to notify you in such an occurrence. The cost of veterinary care will be your responsibility and must be paid in full upon pick-up of your pet. |
What about dog fights? The key is prevention. Playtimes are supervised by staff who will intervene when play starts to get too rough. Also, we do not accept aggressive dogs. If an accepted dog exhibits unacceptable behavior, the dog is isolated and the owner will be informed of our concern. We will then work with the owner to resolve the problem or the dog will not be allowed to return. |
How old does my dog have to be to board or attend doggie playcare? Our minimum boarding age for dogs is 3 months (must be current on all shots). Based on initial interview, older pets may be asked to bring in a certificate of health or letter of clearance from a veterinarian prior to attending. |
Does my dog need to be spayed or neutered? Mud Puppies advocates responsible pet ownership and the prevention of unwanted pets. In this spirit, and as members of Central Texas’ Spay Neuter Incentive Program (S.N.I.P), we require that pets over the age of six months be spayed or neutered in order to participate in our playcare and boarding services. |
What is your cancellation policy? There are penalties for late cancellations. Please see our reservations & cancellation policy in the Mud Puppies Application Package. |
What if I can’t make it there to pick up my dog before you close? There are penalties for late pick-ups. Please see our pick-up, drop-off and late fees policy in the Mud Puppies Application Package. |
Can I drop-off or pick-up outside the open hours? There may be fees associated with late or off-time pick-ups. We do have certain hours that we are closed to the public for nap time and clean up. Drop-off and pick-up hours see the Policies and Procedures page. |
Do I need a reservation? Advanced reservations are not required for playcare. However, as space is limited, we recommend that you make a reservation at least 48 hours before 11 am of the day of your pet’s stay. A credit card is required to hold a reservation. We do require reservations for boarding. They should be made as far in advance as possible to secure a spot and a credit card is required to hold a reservation. Professional grooming services also require an appointment. Don’t forget that all dogs MUST HAVE CURRENT VACCINES ON FILE, or they cannot use Mud Puppies daycare, boarding or grooming. |
Can all my pets stay together in the same bunk? We can accommodate more than one dog per bunk with a discount for multiple pooches. |
Can you give my dog his medications? Yes, if it is necessary that they be administered during your pet’s stay. Please be sure to bring us dosage instructions, veterinarian information, and an adequate supply for their stay. For further information on our policy please download the Mud Puppies Application Package. |
Can I bring my dogs toys and other belongings? We ask that playcare guests not bring anything with them from home—just a Mud Puppies approved collar with tags and a leash. We provide soft bedding in our bunks, a Kong stuffed with treats at nap time, and community-use toys in the play areas. Boarding guests are welcome to bring one special toy for comfort. This toy will be used in pet’s private bunk only. |
What about a collar and leash? All pets must be dropped off on a leash with a Mud Puppies approved collar and a tag with pet’s name and phone number or address. Please read details in our Application Package. |
Do I bring my own dog food? We ask that pets attending playcare be fed before and/or after their stay. If your pet has special needs, please ask us and we will try to accommodate you. For Boarding pets we ask that you bring enough food for the length of their stay in resealable containers, clearly labeled with full instructions on amounts and feeding times. For those who wish for Mud Puppies to provide food, there will be a fee of $2 per feeding. There is no charge for feeding your pet his/her own food brought from home. |
